Privacy Notice
Vizy is a simple service: a digital business card, an address of your own. This page explains what data we process to run it, and how you stay in control. The service is meant for working professionals: to create an account you must be at least 16.
Who is responsible, and how to reach us
Vizy is operated by To confirm: name and postal address of the operator. For any question about your data, write to To confirm: contact e-mail address.
What data is collected
We only collect what the service needs to run:
- Account: your e-mail address, your password (never stored in plain text, only in hashed form), the name you give at registration, your chosen language, a single-use technical token to verify your e-mail or reset your password, and a count of failed sign-in attempts, used to temporarily lock the account against a brute-force attack.
- Business card: the information you enter for your card, name, role, contact details, social profiles, links. It becomes public as soon as you publish your card.
- Photo: your photo is cropped in your browser before it ever leaves your device, the uncropped original photo never reaches us. We keep the cropped image you send us, plus three resized copies used on your card.
- Counters: your card counts how many times it has been opened, how many times the contact has been saved, and how many times a phone number or e-mail address was tapped. No address, no cookie, no profile of the visitor: the next section says exactly what this means.
- Server logs: like any website, our server records the IP address, the page requested and the time of each request, for security and for diagnosing faults. These logs are deleted after 14 days.
- Cookies: one technical cookie keeps you signed in, for up to 7 days. A second one remembers your chosen language, for up to 1 year. No advertising or tracking cookie is used.
What we count, and what we do not
When a card is opened, counters go up for the day, the rough device class (phone, tablet, computer), the browser language and how the visitor arrived (a QR code, a link, an e-mail signature, or directly). Only these counters are stored: no cookie is set, no IP address is kept for these counts, and nothing that would identify a visitor or connect one visit to another is recorded. This is why Vizy asks no one for cookie consent.
Why we use it, and on what basis
This data is used to create your account, publish your card, send you the e-mails the service needs (verification, reset) and remember your language. We process it because it is necessary for the service you asked for: without it there is neither account nor card. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) applies. We use your data for nothing else, and we would ask for your consent before doing so.
Who else has access
Nobody, apart from one technical provider: Hetzner Online GmbH (Gunzenhausen, Germany), which hosts our server. The mail server that sends the service's e-mails runs on that same machine. Germany is on the list of countries whose level of data protection the Federal Council recognises as adequate. Vizy uses no audience analytics or advertising tools, and neither sells nor shares your data with anyone else. Your published card, on the other hand, is public by definition: anyone with its address can read it, search engines included, unless you switch indexing off in your member area.
Where your data is stored
On a single server located in Nuremberg, Germany. Daily backups stay on that same server and are automatically deleted after 14 days.
How long we keep it
Your account and card data are kept for as long as your account exists. An account created but never verified cannot publish a card; we may delete it after 90 days. An inactive account is not deleted automatically: your card stays online until you take it down, which is the point of the service. After you delete your account, a trace may remain for up to 14 days in a backup, until that backup is replaced.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, its correction, deletion or transfer to another service, or object to a processing, by writing to the address above. We answer within 30 days. Vizy has not appointed a data protection adviser; the law does not require one for a service of this size. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Bern.
Deleting all your data
From your account, the “Account settings” page has a “Delete account” button that immediately removes your card, your photo and your account.
